Fondazione Cariplo is promoting the“InnovaWelfare – Technological and Digital Acceleration of Welfare Services” program to enhance the innovation capacity of nonprofit actors active in the welfare system and support service innovation by leveraging the potential of new technologies.
The initiative, promoted with the support of Cariplo Factory and Giordano Dell’Amore Social Venture Foundation (FSVGDA), includes three axes of work: the Observatory (Technology Watch) to outline technological opportunities and foster their diffusion, Experimentation and development of innovative solutions through a call for proposals and the provision of grants, and Impact Investing to further accompany the best solutions supported by the call.

In continuation of 2023, the second edition of the InnovaWelfare call aims to accelerate the creation of new welfare service models or improve existing ones through experimentation with technological and/or digital solutions to improve the welfare of people, particularly the most vulnerable. In a context where Italian welfare faces major challenges due to sociodemographic changes and international crises, Fondazione Cariplo believes that technology can be an effective lever to enable the transformations necessary to meet evolving needs.

The project is aimed at both organizations that have already experimented with the use of technology in the welfare sector and organizations that are interested in these new solutions for the first time.

Results of the first edition of the call
A total of 1,450,000 euros was allocated for the first edition of the InnovaWelfare call, promoted by Fondazione Cariplo and implemented with the support of Cariplo Factory and Fondazione Social Venture Giordano Dell’Amore (FSVGDA).
Following a path of reinforcement, the seven projects with the highest innovative value and impact potential were selected for the implementation phase, geared toward the implementation of a pilot project.

The solutions supported have spanned different areas of welfare, with a focus on the issues of aging and non-self-sufficiency, experimenting with advanced technologies such as home monitoring systems, platforms for active aging and telemedicine, as well as tools for Parent Training and early diagnosis of Specific Learning Disorders (SLDs).
